Welcome To HVH2O

What is HVH2O?

  • Our Mission

To create a watersports and environmental center on the Peekskill Riverfront. We want to give people the opportunity to paddle in and learn about the beautiful Hudson River and the surrounding environment.

  • Our Purpose

There are two main obstacles for people getting into the Hudson River.

    The first is access.
The purpose of HVH2O is to create a place where people generate a relationship with the Hudson River and the water. It will offer convenient riverfront recreational experiences that get people into the Hudson River such as paddleboarding and kayaking. Launch points in the Hudson River are rare, but HVH2O will develop a launch site on the Peekskill waterfront, walking distance from local businesses, the train station, with convenient parking. Furthermore, HVH2O will develop the local waterway with buoys, creating safe areas for beginners as well as marking safe areas for more experienced boaters.

    The second is price.
Watercraft are expensive, as are boating lessons. As a nonprofit, HVH2O will provide inexpensive or free access. It will maintain a stable of watercraft for community rental or free use. It will also provide low-price or free lessons for people to use watercraft. As the organization expands, it will create affordable space for people to store their watercraft by the river.

  • Our Vision

As humankind makes a larger impact upon the world, it is critical that we understand how this affects us. Unfortunately, many of us are far removed from nature to feel connected to it. The goal of HVH2O is to foster that connection with the environment, and especially the Hudson River by creating an organization that provides low-cost and free recreational opportunities.

We envision people will learn about and enjoy the river with low-impact watersports by providing waterfront classroom educational programs for local schools and the community.

Equipment and Material

We need to increase our fleet in order to give people the treat of water experiences who would not otherwise have them.
Please consider donating used water crafts or funds to help support our purchasing of new and used water craft for a wide range of users.

Scholarships

Our goal is to get everyone into the water and we are going to do all that we can to ensure that our services are accessible to everyone.
Any donation you can make to cover the tuition cost of another allows more kids to experience the wonders of water crafting and Hudson River exploration.

Training

Everyone that will be taking people out on the river will need to be ACA certified in either kayaking or paddle boarding. Our educators have already voluntarily paid for much of their own training, but there is always more to be had and more people that we would like to get certified.
Please consider paying it forward by enabling not just to be taught, but to learn how to teach.

Facilities

Our long term goal is to create a recreational and educational facility at our launch site near the Peekskill River Front. This will include a space to store our water craft and other educational equipment and provide more permanent display spaces.
Any contributions would be marked for this development and greatly appreciated.
